When the Dust Settles: The Moment You Remember Who You Are

There’s a moment, often quiet and unexpected, that arrives after everything changes. The dust begins to settle. The noise softens. And in that stillness, something remarkable happens:

You begin to remember who you are.

I recently created a hypnotherapy session for a woman standing in that very space. After leaving a 30-year relationship, she found herself both raw and radiant. Grieving the old. Thrilled by what’s to come. Ready, but not entirely sure where to begin.

That’s the thing about change. It doesn’t always shout. Sometimes, it whispers: “Come home to yourself.”

In her session, we used a small, flat stone as a point of focus. Something simple. Tangible. Grounding. Because in seasons of upheaval, you don’t need complexity. You need something real to hold on to. Something that reminds you, you’ve always been steady, even in the storm.

From there, we moved through deep relaxation, a countdown into stillness, and a metaphor I called The Compass Within. It was all about rediscovering the internal guidance system that doesn’t come from other people, old patterns, or external expectations, but from within.

And the message at the center? “I remember who I am.”

Because she did. And we all do. It just takes a moment of quiet, a shift in focus, and the willingness to believe that this new beginning isn’t scary, it’s sacred.

If you’re navigating a season of transition, whether it’s the end of a relationship, a career shift, a health journey, or just a deep pull to grow, I invite you to pause and listen.

Not to the fear. Not to the chaos. But to the truth rising in you.

You are not lost. You are not broken. You are simply becoming.
