From Overwhelmed to On Fire: How Noticing What’s Working Changes Everything

She walked in already exhausted.
Not because she’d done too much…but because she thought she had to.
Her mind was full of lists, things to fix, habits to change, emotions to untangle, pieces of life that felt broken or behind schedule. The fear underneath it all was quiet, but heavy:
What if this is too much? What if I can’t do all of this? What if I’m already too late?
She hadn’t even started, and she was already tired.
And that’s where so many people begin.
The Weight of “Fixing”
When we believe everything needs fixing, life becomes a constant repair project. No rest. No pause. No appreciation. Just pressure.
She had been staring so hard at what wasn’t working that she’d lost sight of something important:
There was already so much that was working.
But no one had ever invited her to look there.
A Simple Shift (That Changed Everything)
Instead of diving into what needed to change, we slowed things down.
Gently. Safely. Without forcing anything.
And I asked her to notice, not fix, not improve, just notice.
What is already supporting you?
What hasn’t fallen apart?
What small things are quietly going right?
At first, it felt unfamiliar. Almost uncomfortable.
But then something softened.
Her shoulders dropped. Her breath changed. Her face lit up.
And then, there it was.
The Spark
That spark people think they’ve “lost”? It’s rarely gone. It’s usually just buried under self-criticism, urgency, and the belief that everything has to be hard.
As she began to recognize what was already working, her resilience, her awareness, her past wins, her ability to show up even when overwhelmed, something reignited.
Not motivation fueled by pressure. Not discipline driven by fear.
But energy.
The kind that comes from remembering:
“Oh… I’m not starting from zero.”
Expansion Doesn’t Start With Fixing
It Starts With Noticing
Here’s the truth I see again and again:
You don’t build a better life by tearing yourself down first. You build it by standing on what’s already solid.
When you acknowledge what’s working:
You reclaim your power
Your nervous system relaxes
Clarity replaces overwhelm
Forward movement becomes natural, not forced
And suddenly, change doesn’t feel heavy. It feels possible.
If You’re Feeling Overwhelmed Right Now…
Let this be your reminder:
You don’t need to fix everything. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t need to exhaust yourself before you begin.
Start here instead:
What’s working, even a little? What’s holding you, even quietly? What’s already proof that you’re capable?
That’s where the spark lives.
And once it’s noticed…it tends to grow all on its own.
An Invitation
If any part of this feels familiar, the overwhelm, the pressure to fix everything, the quiet exhaustion before you even begin, you don’t have to navigate that alone.
Sometimes the most powerful shift isn’t doing more…it’s learning how to notice what’s already holding you.
If you’re curious what that kind of support could feel like for you, I’d love to explore it together.
